Chapter 151 – Wild Rose Alberta
We had a luncheon meeting on April 28th, 2007 at the German Canadian Club. There were a total of 30 in attendance, 28 members and friends plus 2 guests. A new member present was Marty Raine, VE6TS, of Edmonton. The treasurer report indicated we have a total of 57 members, of which 41 are full members and 16 friends. Bob Roske, N0UF won a three year membership in Chapter 151 for designing the logo for the convention. Chapter 151 in partnership with the Calgary Communications Club donated a total of $600.00 to assist in purchasing Morse code equipment to support the Morse code education program at the Calgary Military Museums Society. This would illustrate the importance of Morse code communication during wartime. Each club donated $300.00 and also will provide volunteers to demonstrate Morse code. Earle Smith, VE6NM, the President of RAC described the work of two committees reporting on “Restructuring Amateur Radio in Canada” an “Education Program “to attract young people to the hobby. Our guest presenter, 17 year old Allison McPhail, VA6FLY, gave an excellent presentation on her experience at the Johnston Space Centre near Houston, Texas. Allison spent 16 days in Houston where four teams designed space suits, living spaces etc. for a Mars mission. Allison plans to be the first lady on the moon. Jack Ambler, VE6CAQ
