QCWA WILD ROSE REPEATER

April, 2005

Since the last issue your editor has been engaged in extra-curricular activities. You ask what could they be? Don't worry - I have not left ham radio for some other hobby. Instead I have been away several times over the past year and more recently this year working in Yellowknife, NT. Burning the candle at both ends certainly takes a toll on immediate ham radio activities but, sure helps to defray the costs for the upcoming QCWA Alaskan Cruise!

SPRING MEETING & LUNCHEON - April 23, 2005

We are getting a good response to the upcoming spring luncheon meeting. Ticket sales have been brisk with still a couple of weeks left before deadline is upon us. I must admit though - some of our members who attended quite regular in the past are missed by their absense on our list. Got your calendart marked? For more info visit our website at Luncheon Meeting Details.

If you have something you wish to see published in the QCWA National Journal please feel free to submit your views and or pictures to your Chapter Executive for future submission. Submission deadlines are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 of each year.

MORSE CODE IN MUSIC

Randall, KE0YG, provided the following info about Morse Code in the computer game called "RED STORM RISING" by Microprose. Randall says that in the opening credits there is music which contains Morse Code which spells out "THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING" at about 18 WPM. Randall says that he can confirm this on the C-64 version (now that is going back a few years!) and he believes that the IBM version plays the CW message in the theme song.

Stay tuned for other 'Morse code in music' to be featured in future issues of the QCWA Repeater.

Until next time...on behalf of the QCWA Chapter 151 Executive - Happy Trails!
