POST LUNCHEON - APRIL 28th, 2007 - MEETING NEWS

Another enjoyable luncheon meeting was held with 28 members, friends and 2 guests in attendance. The new venue, the German Canadian Club, was excellent! The buffet lunch was enjoyed by all. And to top off the day - our guest presenter 17 year old Allison, VA6FLY, gave an excellent powerpoint presentation and talk on her experiences at the Johnston Space Center in Houston, TX.

And the winner is...Bob Roske, NĜUF! And for those wondering what Bob won...remember when the 2006 convention committee put a call out for a logo design for the convention and offered free membership to the winning design? Well - Bob did just that. He submitted various design ideas for the 2006 convention logo. Congratulations Bob on winning a 3 year membership in Chapter 151!

MILITARY MUSEUM (FORMERLY MUSEUM OF REGIMENTS)

For those not at the April 28th meeting - a motion was made to support the Morse code education program at the Military Museum. This all began when Carolyn Foard, Manager, Education & Intrepretation, gave a presentation at a meeting of the Calgary Communications Club on April 18, 2007. Carolyn was to give a presentation to Chapter 151 on April 28th, however, her schedule did not permit. This is not to mean we have missed out, for Carolyn will still come to a future meeting to tell us all about this program.

So what is this all about? Chapter 151 is partnering with Calgary Communications Club to assist in purchasing Morse code equipment. But more importantly - both Calgary Communications Club and Chapter 151 will provide volunteers to demonstrate Morse code to school students touring the Military Museum - a program Carolyn recently introduced. So please - let us all chip in with our Morse code expertise (no - you need not know how to send/receive at flying speeds) but only know enough to show students the basics of Morse code and assist them while they take their hand at experiencing the thrill of sending a short message to one of their classmates. In this regard - PLEASE consider stepping up to the volunteer plate and help 'bat out' a few fly balls in the Morse code program. I might add - these demonstrations will take part during the day for only a few minutes each time. You can contact Ken Oelke, VE6AFO for more details.

DAYTON HAMVENTION - MAY 18-20, 2007
