QCWA WILD ROSE REPEATER

August, 2005

Since releasing the Spring issue there have been many weather related incidents that brought amateur radio operators together to provide an essential community service from flood watches to helping with communications while setting up to serve thousands of meals through the Salvation Army.

Your conductor will be leaving on August 19th for the QCWA International Convention Alaska Cruise. I will have in hand information to promote QCWA Convention-2006 in Calgary September 28-30, 2006.

REPORT ON CALGARY & AREA FLEAMARKET - MAY 14, 2005

Not a record attendance however, approximately 270 people came out to enjoy fellowship and drive the hardest bargain they could come up with. Yours truly again set up a QCWA table with many coming by to say hello. As a result of our efforts we gained a new member, Dwight Williams, VE6PK. We thank Dwight for stopping by and joining QCWA and Wild Rose Chapter 151.

MORSE CODE IN MUSIC

Randall, KE0YG, provided the following info about Morse Code in the computer game called "RED STORM RISING" by Microprose. Randall says that in the opening credits there is music which contains Morse Code which spells out "THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING" at about 18 WPM. Randall says that he can confirm this on the C-64 version (now that is going back a few years!) and he believes that the IBM version plays the CW message in the theme song.

Stay tuned for other 'Morse code in music' to be featured in future issues of the QCWA Repeater.

Until next time...on behalf of the QCWA Chapter 151 Executive - Happy Trails!
